The benchmark for 1:18 detail: composite and diecast bodies, photo-etched badges, carpeted interiors. Their Japanese supercars and European exotics are reference pieces. Expect $200+, and expect it to be worth it.
2. Kyosho
Japanese precision with a deep JDM and European catalog. Kyosho 1:18s from the 2000s are already climbing in value on the secondary market.
3. Minichamps
The motorsport authority — Formula 1, DTM, Le Mans. If a car won a race, Minichamps probably made it in 1:43 and 1:18.
4. GT Spirit
Sealed-body resin in limited runs: perfect paint, perfect stance, tuner and supercar subjects nobody else touches. No opening parts — these are about proportions.
The value champions
5. Solido
French brand, reborn: diecast 1:18s with opening parts at $40–60. Their classic Mercedes, BMW and youngtimer lineup is the best value in large scale today.
6. Bburago
The official Ferrari license holder in mainstream scale. Solid quality, honest prices, and often a collector's very first "real" model.
7. Maisto
Huge catalog across 1:18 and 1:24, especially strong in motorcycles — their Harley-Davidson series is a collecting niche of its own.
The American specialists
8. Greenlight
Movie & TV cars, police vehicles, and the famous "Hollywood" series in 1:64 and 1:24. Licensed subjects done properly, with chase variants that keep the hunt exciting.
9. Jada
Fast & Furious, anime tie-ins, and the "Bigtime Muscle" line with attitude — lowered stances, custom wheels. Not factory-stock accurate, and that's exactly the point.
The premium-mini revolution
