- HISTORY ASPECTS:
- The Dassault Rafale B is a twin-seat, multirole fighter designed for the French Air Force, capable of conducting air superiority, ground attack, and reconnaissance missions in a single airframe. Equipped with advanced avionics, the Thales RBE2 AESA radar, and a wide range of precision-guided weapons, the Rafale B can strike heavily defended targets while maintaining superior situational awareness. The aircraft’s versatility allows it to perform both conventional and nuclear strike missions, as well as maritime interdiction and electronic warfare support.
- Aircraft 113-IE/330 saw active deployment during Operation Harmattan in 2011, the French contribution to the NATO-led intervention in Libya. From bases in southern Europe, Rafale B 113-IE/330 conducted precision strike missions against Libyan military infrastructure, including command centers, air defense sites, and armored formations loyal to Muammar Gaddafi. Armed with SCALP cruise missiles, HAMMER glide bombs, and GBU-12 Paveway laser-guided bombs, the aircraft played a key role in enforcing the UN-mandated no-fly zone and supporting coalition objectives while minimizing civilian casualties.
- The Rafale’s operations over Libya demonstrated the aircraft’s multirole capability and combat effectiveness. Beyond strike missions, crews of 113-IE/330 provided tactical reconnaissance, real-time battle damage assessment, and close air support coordination for coalition forces. The success of these missions reinforced the Rafale B as a highly capable platform for expeditionary air campaigns and underscored France’s commitment to precision and rapid response in modern conflicts.
- This 1:72 scale model captures the dynamic lines and combat-ready configuration of France’s premier multirole fighter, complete with detailed ordnance for Operation Harmattan, making it a standout piece for modern air power collectors.
